The avon walk for breast cancer boston is a two-day fundraising walk taking place on may 17 and 18 2014. Participants will walk up to 26. 2 miles on saturday and 13. 1 miles on sunday for a total of 39. 3 miles over the course of the two days. Participants use sidewalks and follow general pedestrian rules. We have water stops every two to three miles along the route. Every participant is encouraged to walk the distance best suited for them and they have a variety of accommodations should they choose to stop along the route. Safety is the primary concern of the avon walk and we will take the steps necessary to ensure all of participants have a safe and successful event. For our 2014 route we are working with umass boston bayside expo center to serve as our new opening/closing ceremony site. From there participants will continue along this proposed route (please also see attached list of boston parks requested from boston parks and recreation).
