SCORE 56 Canal Road Nw And Foxhall Road Nw Washington Dc Project: potomac river tunnel cso control project an assessment of the potential for archaeological resources in the area of the georgetown university south entrance (west road nw) from canal road nw (referenced as area 1 north in the phase ia archaeological investigations report) concluded that based on the potential presence of 5 feet or more of fill, and the presence of a known archaeological site immediately adjacent to the university entrance, a geoprobe would need to be used to extract core samples. The core samples would be examined by an archaeologist and geoarchaeologist to determine whether intact buried land surfaces or archaeological deposits dating to the historic period or earlier are present. To undertake this assessment, stantec will employ a mechanized tracked geoprobe rig to extract continuous cores at one selected location within the median between canal road nw and the south entrance to the university (see attached plan maps).
