Repair of stair riser height leading to basement (stairs too steep). The existing (grandfathered) stairs are up to 12" risers. To repair the stair height, we need to remove the bricks and concrete and replace with brick and a new hand rail and guard rail. Small repairs to the existing retaining wall around the stairs will be needed. A new retaining wall less than 18" will also be used in the design - the permit documentation indicates that a permit is not required for a retaining wall less than 18". All work will be within the fenced area in front of the house - no access to the sidewalk or across the sidewalk is necessary (access is available through the basement to the backyard).
