Sheeting & shoring design for the support of excavation to construct the mass ave i-395 highway entrance portal to the highway

To drill and construct (15) 6 inch diameter dewatering wells to 1 feet deep via mud rotary drilling method. Each well will be equipped with a 14 inch permanent surface casing to feet deep which will be removed up completion of dewatering activities. All drill spoils and fluids will be contained and disposed of per doee regulation.

2" diameter direct-push soil borings to be advanced for observation of soils as part of an archaeological investigation. Total of 9 borings on proposed i-395 development from e to h street and 2nd to 3rd streets nw. Borings to be advanced with a compact direct-push rig on rubber tracks. Rig will be mobilized to the site on a standard pick-up truck with a trailer. All borings advanced on grass. Estimate 1 day for completion of all borings. A dcra building permit application is being submitted for one boring on private property as part of this project.

The design and construction of these caissons is being permitted through dcra; this application is being submitted for ipma and toa approval for installation of the caissons in public space, not the design. We are attaching the notarized dcra structural certification form, and the plans should be approved without a structural check, as provided in section 106. 1. 4. 1 of the dc construction codes supplement of 2008, as requested.
