Soil borings not completed as temporary wells will be backfilled/abandoned within 24-hours of sampling using a bentonite slurry -two pounds of bentonite to one gallon of water- in accordance with ddoe guidance. The grout will be installed using a tremie pipe from the bottom of the borehole to the ground surface to prevent surface water infiltration. Advancement of eight soil borings using a geoprobe to shallow groundwater, geoprobe refusal, or to a maximum depth of approximately 25 feet below ground surface, whichever occurs first. The soil borings will be located throughout the active portions of the site focused on stained areas observed during the site visit. If sufficient groundwater is encountered for sampling, a total of up to eight groundwater samples will be collected using a screen point 15 groundwater sampling system, or equivalent. Following the completion of sampling, the borings will be grouted in accordance with ddoe requirements.
