The foundation for this project was separately permitted due to timing and general contractor logistics under project number #6454048. This permit application is for the above-ground and overhead structure only and is not for human occupancy. The structure is entirely metal and will contain internal lighting. Arup is the structural engineer.

Council land use action to establish a city facility (denny substation) on two or three city light-owned parcels at a side on the edge of the cascade neighborhood. Project includes installation of a screen wall, control building, maintenance building, transformer units and other electrical and mechanical equipment. Vehicle access for the facility is to be located at john st, across from the intersection of pontius ave n and john st. Project also includes street vacation for portion of pontius ave n to the west of the site (between denny way and john st). Draft and final environmental impact statements (dated march 27, 2014 and january 22, 2015) have been prepared by seattle city light.
