To make the neccessary improvements to faneuil hall we propose to temporarily alter the south stairwell egress as follows. This stairwell is used primarily for emergency egress from the fourth floor. The existing glazed wall connected to the east side of the lower landing between the first and second floors will be removed. A new temporary wall of metal studs and 5/8" fire code sheetrock on both sides with a two hour fire rated door panic hardware and closer will be constructed in place of the glazed wall. The lower landing wil be extended and have 3 steps taking occupants down to the existing lobby on the east side of the stairwell. A new exit sign wil be installed above the new door leading to the lobby. All neccessary partitions needed to enclose the stairwell betwenn the lower landing and the upper floors will be constructed of metal studs and 5/8" fire code sheetrock.
