Borehole abandonment will be performed by tremie-grouting via a positive displacement pump for the bottom of the borehole.

The cpt cone and the steel bars pushing from the surface will be of identical in diameter thus maintaining a sealed hole as the cone is pushed. Immediately after the cone is withdrawn, the boring will be backfilled with bentonite slurry, 2lb bentonite powder to 1gal water. Borehole abandonment will be performed by gravity grouting.

If bedrock is encountered, the boring will be terminated. If the casing is installed, the boring will be advanced to the proposed depth with mud-rotary equipment. With the casing installed, the boring will be advanced to the proposed depth with mud-rotary equipment. Upon completion of drilling operations and prior to demobilizing from the site, the boreholes will be backfilled with bentonite slurry having a mix design of two pounds bentonite powder to one gallon of water.
